Winning 5 gold medals at the world's premier
spirits competition in London has further enhanced the world-class reputation
of Cooley Whiskeys. Following on from the "Double Gold" and " Best of Irish
Whiskey" success in San Francisco earlier this year, the Connemara range scooped
a total of 3 medals in the London International Wine and Spirit Competition.
Connemara Peated Single Malt and the 12 Year
Old brought home a gold medal each and the Cask Strength was awarded a silver
medal in this prestigious competition. In a further tribute to our peated whiskeys,
Inishowen, the only peated blended Irish whiskey, also won gold.
The London International Wine and Spirit Competition
is the premier competition of its kind in the world. Its aim is to promote the
quality and excellence of the world's best wines, spirits and liqueurs. The
Competition's evaluation process is renowned for its rigorous judging. A panel
of experts with particular knowledge of the area/style being tasted judges each
category with a blind tasting. Awards are made on the Olympic principle - one
Gold medal, one Silver and one Bronze, in each product category.
Commenting, Chairman John Teeling said, "It
is wonderful to win these medals but the real proof of quality is purchases.
This year all of our single malts are showing significant increases in sales
as more and more discerning drinkers discover the rare qualities in our whiskeys".
